What this trial is testing

This study is testing Risankizumab (a drug) as a possible treatment. Condition(s) listed: Crohn Disease, Perianal Fistula and Perianal Fistula Due to Crohn's Disease.

It is open-label: participants know what they are receiving.

Phase 4 studies look at treatments that are already approved, to learn more about how they work in everyday use.

Main thing being measured

In the researchers’ words

Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease characterized by relapses and remissions, causing lesions throughout the digestive tract and accompanied by diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nutritional disorders. In Japan particularly, the incidence of anal lesions is high, with approximately half of patients developing fistulas or abscesses, significantly impairing quality of life (QOL). For perianal fistulizing…
Words you might see
  • CDAI: Crohn's Disease Activity Index, a score of how active Crohn's disease is.
  • Remission: a period when the disease is quiet or under control.
  • Induction: the first phase of treatment, aimed at getting the disease under control.
  • Maintenance: longer-term treatment aimed at keeping the disease under control.
  • Anti-TNF: a group of biologic medicines (such as infliximab or adalimumab) used in IBD.
  • JAK inhibitor: a group of oral medicines that calm parts of the immune system.
  • Fistula: an abnormal tunnel between two parts of the body, which can happen in Crohn's disease.
